To those of you who are dealing with love, dealing with its insecurities, dealing with heartbreak, dealing with all the crazy banana drama mamas that surround you:

Saab theek hai. De rien. Esta bien. It’s okay. 

This story was shared with a close friend of mine last night, and I hold it very dearly to my heart because it affects me to this day. 

You know that one quote that has been circulating around Tumblr for millions of years? The one that goes something along the lines of “If you don’t have expectations, you won’t get hurt”? It’s true. But also, not keeping expectations, especially for love, adds to the beauty of the experience when you do find that person. They take you by complete surprise and make your heart grow fonder. “You were once a stranger, and now you mean my world.” Who would have thought? Not your expectations. When you stop looking for something, it comes to you. Doesn’t make much sense as to why, but if you try and notice it you’ll realize it. One of those laws of the universe kind of thing. 

A human being was displayed before me one night. No, that’s an awkward sentence. Basically, this person popped out of no where. A complete stranger, like everyone else I met at one point in time. On the other side of the continent. Thought nothing of it. The usual custom introductory talk took place. This person showed up in my life when I needed something and someone different. Life and a higher being took care of me, let our friendship grow naturally, and here I am admiring him from afar. Here I am letting my heart grow fonder of this magnificent creature who carried me off with surprise and wonder. Who would have thought I had found something so close to what I call love? Oh, right. Not my expectations. 

When you least expect it, you end up getting exactly what you need. Keep your mind open, expectations low. Pray for what you need to pray for, and let the universe takes care of the rest.
